Meet Olivia Stymiest
Licensed Counselling Therapist (C) & Art Therapist
I whole-heartedly believe that the integration of art making to the therapeutic space opens new pathways for exploration, expression, and healing. I have a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Concordia University and have experience working in public healthcare, school settings, and various community organizations. Although I have worked with populations of all ages and demographics, I am passionate about specializing mostly in child and youth art therapy. I offer sessions in both English and French.
The general nature of an art therapy session with me is flexible, creative, empathetic, and collaborative. I focus on developing a strong therapeutic relationship in order to offer my clients a flexible, safe, and non-judgmental space to explore their world with curiosity and empathy through art-making. I believe in using a combination of free creativity and structured interventions to foster meaningful experience and work towards therapeutic goals. As each client and session are unique, my personal style of therapy is eclectic and draws influence from humanistic approaches, the art and expressive therapies, and trauma-informed care.
