Rachel Milne

Registered Social Worker

Although I have only been a social worker since graduating from Dalhousie University in 2021, I have worked in various support roles over the past eight years, and look forward to finishing my Master of Social Work degree through Renison College, University of Waterloo, in August 2024.

During my career, I have assisted a wide variety of people, including veterans experiencing PTSD, individuals dealing with chronic pain, and people who use drugs. My approach is founded in meeting people where they are on their own journey, and working with their strengths to overcome any challenges they may be facing.

My passion lies in supporting couples dealing with relationship issues and individuals who are dealing with anxiety, stress, or trauma. Our initial sessions would be used to explore any issues, and then working collaboratively to create positive change.

I prefer to use a mixture of evidence-based therapy modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness-Based practices. I have also completed my Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and use this training when working with couples.

When I am not working, I love attending concerts, sewing and quilting, travelling, and spending time with my adopted German Shepard, Ellie!

While some insurance companies will not cover a counsellor with a BSW (my status until I complete my masters in August 2024), others recognize the importance of mental health and will cover a BSW social worker. Please check with your insurance provider to see what your coverage includes!
